White Counts Critical

I got my lab results back from this morning and the charge nurse has noted that I have critical white blood cell counts at 0.6. Other stuff is low too, but not quite critical. This makes me very susceptible to neutropenic fever and infections in general. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated here as I would really like to avoid any unscheduled hospital stays.

If I can make it through the next few days (and nights) without incident, I should be fine.

Thanks for your support,

--Dave

  1. I believe there was an article in last week's New England Journal of Medicine that reviewed a medical study where physicians looked at the use of various nutritional supplements to stimulate bone marrow regeneration after chemotherapy. Ironically, neutrophil counts seemed to best improve after ingestion of Varsity Frosted Orange, Pad Thai, Chili Dogs, and Chicken Coconut Soup (although not in one meal, as there are some things that even Emend can't treat....)

Here's hoping for NORMAL TEMPS!!! =)

  2. We will continue praying for you everyday and more specifically that your counts go up quickly and you don't have any unplanned hospital trips.

  3. Dave -- I haven't done the research, but if a quantity of leftover Halloween candy will jumpstart things, let me know. We are sending you are best thoughts every day. Just think of a living room with a family of Coneheads, all wired together, chanting "OM".
