Quarterly Scans

Yup -- another 3 months have flown by and it's time again for quarterly scans. So, this morning I had just a simple Chest CT-Scan (and no MRI). That procedure (once they get you in there) takes less than 10 minutes and did not include any contrast. But the best part about having a chest-only scan is that you don't have to chug that "Berry Smoothie" (read barium sulfate) crap the night before and the morning of your scans (which is required when I have full scans). Dr. Monson (who was cordial as always) said the scans "look great" and that they were all very pleased with my progress.

My next scans will be on 02/11/2010 and will include Chest-Abdomen-Pelvis CT-Scan plus an MRI on my left thigh.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

  1. Hi Dave. Found your blog while researching liposarcoma. I don't know if I have it or not (yet). Just saw a surgeon yesterday. I have a large mass on the interior right thigh. Considering my unluckiness with family health issues of late, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. Wanted to THANK YOU for such an indepth journey into your trials and treatment of your sarcoma. If I do find out I have it, I will certainly know a lot in advance. Thanks again and I'm glad to hear you are doing well! Tammee

  2. Similar story for me. I was given a handful of possible diagnoses and then went online for more information. It's the not knowing that makes things so difficult! But be patient, get a biopsy, and wait for the results. And know that whatever you have IS TREATABLE, so don't be overwhelmed.

  3. Hello Dave, I have had liposarcoma five years ago 3/2004 had a long treatment of both chemo, radition scans all the time but just recent I found a lump in my right breast the sono and mam size said 3 cm last week I had a needle biospy and yesterday they told me it's not breast cancer we think its the same kind of cancer you had in your left leg five years ago so I have been looking to see what type of breast sarcoma there are. I must say i'm scared as heck as to having this twice. thanks for your information.

  4. Hi Stephanie --

You might want to look at The Sarcoma Learning Center and Soft Tissue Sarcoma for some more details on various soft-tissue sarcomas.

I'm really sorry to hear that you might have to go through this again. Though I don't try to worry about it, in the back of my mind I know that recurrence is a real possibility. But before you get to anxious, just hang tight and wait for the official diagnosis. Whatever the results, take heart in know that you're not alone and that there's a large support community out there (should you need it).
