Round #4 Coming to a Close

Thankfully, I’m down to under about 24 hours before I get out of here (ETA Friday, 11:00 AM). Yeah! I can’t wait to leave. All things considered, I’ve done fairly well in the hospital with this round, with much of the credit going to Holly for bringing me my favorite Taste of Thai dish every day for lunch. In other words, the key to feeling healthy is to avoid the hospital food at all costs!

Bryce’s 4th grade class brought me a special surprise Tuesday
My oldest son, Bryce, conspired with his 4th grade teacher (Tangie Wilkins) to make me a really nice poster for my hospital room. According to Ms. Wilkins, Bryce insisted that the class spend at least 2 days working on it. Well, the poster looks great and I very much appreciate how special this class and their teacher made me feel.

My boys are missing me
Here are two recent pictures of Bryce and Kyle who are missing me so much at home.

Don’t worry boys – I’ll be home tomorrow!

  2. Great poster and glad this round is going better for you. Ema and I are just over a year out from her first diagnosis, and there's currently no sign of cancer in her system. We just got the latest lung CT scans and leg MRI and, although there's still activity in the leg, that's probably just cellular activity related to healing - not cancer. We'll get these two tests every three months for the next two years then go to every 6 months. Keeping an eye on the lungs is very important with Sarcomas, as you know. There isn't a day that goes by now that I don't reflect a dozen times on how crazy things were a year ago for us. We read your blog and are right there with you in your treatments, and send positive thoughts toward your speedy recovery and continued good results on all your scans. Keep up the good fight Dave - next year you'll be able to look back on all of this and breathe a sigh of relief too.

  3. What a great way to start the day and weekend. That poster is a TRUE work of ART. Children really are our MOST precious resource.

Enjoy the weekend and coming week at home Dave. Those boys are just precious.

Holly you really are an ANGEL. But remember that once you start something with these 'men folk' they come to expect it. But for now ... I guess you'll have to give him a 'pass'.

Round 4 of the Tour de Chemo comes to a close .. Checkered flag flying ... Almost time for the winning lap drive by.
