I feel fine!

It’s actually hard to believe that I have a life-threatening disease. I mean, I feel perfectly normal (which is good). If nothing else, I hope this is more evidence to suggest that the sarcoma is localized and has not spread elsewhere in my body.

  1. From my sister Barbara:

David, The fact that you are in such good shape will really help you tolerate the treatments. When you combine that with your positive attitude you can beat anything!! I love you !

  2. Interesting that Capt Dan did a light inspection for you. I can't help but wonder if he wasn't some how paying you back for the light treatment you gave me when I was giving birth to Jonathan. Good times, good times!

  3. I thought the same thing! Only difference was that I actually enjoyed it (though I admittedly was not in active labor while he was doing his tinkering). :)

  4. Glad to hear you're feeling good. I've been thinking of you lately, and meaning to get in touch. Thanks for sharing this with all of us, I'm certainly thinking of you.

Let me know if you need me to send you another salt lick.

  5. Yes, the salt lick! Would you believe that I still have those (both the big and small version)? No doubt that was the most humorous and timely gift I’ve ever received. (People are going to wonder what the heck that’s all about . . . but that story is for another day.) I’m not sure that it’s even possible to top the original here!

Thanks for thinking of me Chuck. Your support and compassion have always been a source of comfort and compassion.

  6. Wow - Just read all your entries and am subscribing to your blog now. My wife and I have the "Ema's Recovery" blog that you may have heard about from Nanette and Tim at "For Whatever Reason." Anyway, as we move into a short period of rest between MRIs and CT scans, I'll be sure to follow your journey and support you folks any way I can. You can hear a wrap up of our journey so far on our podcast - The Unreal OC. www.theunrealoc.com . Don't hesitate to contact me if there's anything I can do - moral support-wise or otherwise. ~Tom

  7. I'm glad you are feeling good.

All your friends here in CR are thinking about you, and we are hoping for the best.

P.S. I'll ask my wife to prepare a special tres leches for you (I won't mind having a little piece of cake myself :) )

  8. Hi Dave - I just read your entire blog. I appreciate this site and know I can get the facts. (You know how important that is with the Holbrook grapevine to get the facts straight.) It helps me if it is written down. I want you to know that we love you and you are in our prayers. We will be here for you and Holly and the boys. I will pray for peace for you as you go through this process.

  9. Wow – did I read “Tres Leches” in here somewhere? That is PROVEN to lift spirits with the minor side effect of creating insatiable cravings.

    Thanks Rodolfo!

  10. David,

I am smiling as I write this brief note. You're positive attitude is very important as you begin this time of treatment and recovery. For our part, we will continue to lift you up in prayer and be there for you as often as you need or want us to be.

Barbara and our family dearly love you and look forward to seeing you later this week. Tell Holly and the boys that we love them and are praying for them as well.

May this be a time of strengthened relationships with family and friends, and a time when our faith carries us all through the journey that has been placed before you.

Again, we look forward to this weekend and spending time with all of you. We love you and pray that you feel the love that is being sent your way from both those that know you and those that do not know you but are doing the most powerful thing they can do, praying specifically for you.

I will call you later today.

    I love you.

    Tom

  11. Dave,
I'm so sorry to hear about your sarcoma. We found out in June that my mom has lung cancer. I just got back from being with her for two weeks.
She seems to be doing well for an 85 year old!
    We'll be praying for you.

  15. Dave -

It feels strange to leave a comment for you here, when we live across the street from one another. But, I wanted you to know that we're all closely following your experiences and praying daily for strength, healing, and a palpable feeling of God's presence around your family.

Please let us know if there's anything at all that we can do for you.

    Bob
